Lessening II is the second half of a collection of melancholic solo piano improvisations by musician/producer Peter Sené. Each track has been paired with macro-photography stills by Jamie Allen, Rob Heilig and Sophie Garrett celebrating the beauty within the mundane textures of our lives.

Speaking of the process for the project, Peter said: “Following a pretty hectic few months of touring, professionally playing music live more then any other time in my life, I found I was not creating music purely for the joy and emotional process of it. There was always some other reason behind it's creation.

As is the case with most people involved professionally in anything creative or in the arts (if not most people generally), I have a tendency towards total imposter syndrome; getting obsessive over insignificant details, overcomplicating or overthinking whatever I create and comparing it with the output of others and judging it insignificant.

To overcome this, I decided for every day I was at home for the first couple of months of 2016 to record one solo piano performance. I’d come and just play about for an hour or so to get some rough ideas, then just hit record and play.”

"I decided to split the recordings up into two separate albums (The first self titled album was released 6 months earlier in May 2020). A 19 track, single opus seemed somewhat pushing my luck for a first release. I'd hate for people to think that releasing an album of ambient minimalist solo piano improvisations I did 5 years ago was a pretentious undertaking...."

All proceeds from both albums (Lessening and Lessening II) on bandcamp are being donated to the mental health charity “Mind”.

Lessening is the moniker for the ambient works of Musician/Producer/Engineer Peter Sené. Music Director/Session Keyboardist for UK art-pop band Everything Everything, as well programming/touring live shows with numerous other acts including John Grant, Sundara Karma, Alfie Templeman and Oh Wonder, in 2020 he has mainly been unviable.
